I’ve assigned a project for my character design class at MICA where students are divided into two “gangs”, given a character name and a randomly selected weapon (alla Battle Royale), and design a character they can use for weekly “brawls” (which are done using a very crude dice rolling damage vs. health based deal). This week’s sample battle was between myself, using “Hell Hand" (pictured above in black, white, and red), and my very talented assistant Bart Browne's character, Nero (in black and grey).

It was pretty close, but Hell Hand won by a hair (probably due to all of the casual stabs)!

You guys should check out Bart’s work! He’s a really hard working dude who’s bound for great things!

Another quick nasty thug drawing! This young hooligan’s name is “Jawbreaker”, and was done at the request of the lovely Barbara Tarr!
If you aren’t already acquainted with her illustrations, you should be!

This is a quick color sketch of a gentleman named “Hell Hand”. You should be sure to watch your Ps and Qs around him.

Another piece for my mythological figures series. I’m planning on having 8-10 of these in total.

First in a series of drawings of mythological figures! All of these are inspired by existing gods and heroes from all over the world (but I took a lot of liberties and kind of went off the rails with a lot of them).

Also, this is “Rachael’s boyfriend”. That’s the only thing we know about him besides that he excels at looming.

So, I’ve been working on a lot of freelance stuff that I’m contractually obliged not to post anywhere yet, and also a really large scale personal project that I want to keep under wraps for the time being…but here are some sweet adventure dudes that I had a whole lot of fun drawing today!
From left to right: guy who takes his lemon tree everywhere, sullen pre-teen ninja, bullet-proof uncle, a champion banjosman, and fanny-pack mechanic.
I’m pretty sure that they hang out and have super-dope adventures together!
