Some more character sketches for Double Fine’s “The Cave”. This time: The Twins, in both regular and corpse variety. Spooky rascals!

Some early drawings of The Knight character, from Double Fine’s “The Cave”! His cave paintings were probably overall my favorite ones to work on. I imagine he maintains his pallidness through a steady diet of boiled meats and root vegetables, and a climate of the greyest chilly drizzles. Just like me!

Also, here are some early character drawings I did for the Adventurer’s backstory in “The Cave”. I didn’t design the character models for the playable portion of the game itself. I just stylistically retooled the main character riffing off of the super fun existing character models they game me, and then invented secondary and background characters for these “Cave Paintings” you discover along your way through the game that reveal the character’s story. In this case, the Adventurer (lady in the middle) already existed. I came up with the fine fellows flanking her to serve as her adventuring companions! I’ve always been a big Indiana Jones fan and could probably draw explorer/adventurer peeps all day!

Tomorrow is the day you guys! January 22nd Double Fine & Sega’s new downloadable game “The Cave” will be available for purchase and this is another piece of art I did that will be featured as part of the backstory for the Knight (one of the 7 playable characters). Do you guys like turnips? Why not get a big basket of them to munch on while you explore the cave, solve awesome puzzles, and laugh like a goon! It’ll be fun, and part of a well balanced medieval diet!

Hey you guys! Janurary 22nd 2013 marks the release of Ron Gilbert (of Maniac Mansion, and Monkey Island fame) and Double Fine’s excellent new platforming adventure game, “THE CAVE”! I had the very exciting opportunity to spend this past summer collaborating with my friends at Double Fine on 84 individual pieces of art for this spectacular game that slowly unravel the backstories of all 7 playable characters. I’ve been pretty mum about it until now, but with the release date within reach I’ve gotten permission to share some of the pieces I’ve done! Please be wary of small SPOILERS in these posts. I’ll try to be strategic about what I post and not reveal any of the surprise endings.
I’ve seen the game in action and I can attest to the fact that it’s super fun and filled with the sort of humor and unique gaming experiences you’ve come to expect from a Double Fine production! Download it for your Xbox 360, PS3, or PC and have a blast with the platforming action, and unique and mysterious puzzles either by yourself or with up to 2 spelunking pals cooperatively! You won’t regret it!
